They will be working on two systems.
Work with a developed backend system that will need to integrate with a frontend system. The backend system provides a view of network operations. Acts as a SNMP event viewer for any and all network anomalies that would indicate outages, failures, or warnings prior to failure.
The Frontend will be the viewer for the Service Desk engineers. They are looking at utilizing a possible cot application initially and then look to customize it to there needs.
Same product needs to integrate with their email and log messages so that they can comingle discrete event data from the network infrastructure.
We are looking for a senior-level software engineer with 7+ years of overall development experience. Skill in both compiled (Java, C++, C) and interpreted programming languages (Perl, Ruby, Python) is required. A candidate must understand the full development lifecycle (requirements, design, coding, testing [unit and system]), deployment, and maintenance) and demonstrate the ability to manage projects and communicate effectively with customers/peers. Experience with relational databases (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and front-end development (HTML, PHP, Java Swing) is required. Knowledge of the cable and telecommunication industries is beneficial.
The ideal candidate is going to come fro a large network environment where the optimal operation of the network is critical to the companies business. The individual will most likely be working in an engineering environment within the organization. They will be tasked with providing tools for the organization to monitor, troubleshoot and maintain the health of the network.
They will either have built these applications or provided the necessary development to integrate the of the shelf (cots) application into the companies environment.
