Senior DBA-DB2 with IBM zOS design and administration, COBOL

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Technical skills and experience with DB2 in a Data Sharing environment including: performance monitoring & tuning, subsystem problem resolution, routine production operational support, relational database design, 3rd party application installation and support, DB2 Connect client and gateway installation and tuning.
Experience leading a team and application design consultation is essential.
Fast learner and willing to pickup unfamiliar tasks with minimal mentoring or supervision.
Able to mentor others in the team and outside of the team.
Responsible for working with clients to design and implement a data base infrastructure to ensure needed information is readily available and performance is maximized.
Perform complex assignments lacking precedent and requiring creativity, under minimal guidance.
Serve as a mainframe DB2 DBA expert to provide advice, functional direction and assume a lead role in the work group.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Experience in IBM zOS design and administration, using DB2 version 8 or higher in a Parallel Sysplex Datasharing architecture, database monitoring tools, administration tools and database utilities.
Experience in a medium to large scale Data Center using IBM zOS operating system and associated software and hardware.
Technical skills including JCL, programming (PL1, COBOL, REXX or other programming languages) and setup, configuration of DB2 components.
Extensive knowledge of DBA skills relating to database design for 24 x 7 availability.
Experience with monitors, utilities, and administration tools from multiple vendors.
Experience supporting distributed applications in a Data Sharing environment.
Proficient skills to appropriately function in performance tuning for DB2.
Knowledge and experience in Disaster Recovery planning and testing methodologies.
Analysis and design skills involving ability to gather data on systems issues, define alternative approaches, assess business impact, recommend cost-effective solutions, and develop and implement those solutions.
Project management skills, ability to develop and monitor work agreements and budgets, and to determine specifications, schedules, and deliverables.
