Purpose:
To assist in the design, development, implementation and enhancement of functional plug-in modules for the CCHMC research data warehouse. Work may involve migrating or recreating existing plug-ins from a standalone fat client workbench to a browser-based thin client. In a long-term appointment, this person would also be required to become familiar with the legacy applications hosted by the Division of Biomedical Informatics and to help perform maintenance and provide support for them as they reach end-of-life.
Required Skills:
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with ability to communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization. Ability to relate to diverse age and demographic backgrounds. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong Java programming skills (including AJAX, Servlets, JSP, JDBC, JMS, EJB and struts). AJAX experience highly preferred. Knowledge of web services and familiarity with their development, specifically with Tomcat, JBOSS, Axis2, and RESTful web services. Experience with development using Eclipse (and the development of Eclipse plug-ins) and version control/configurati on management tools. Experience with Windows and Linux environments, XML, and HTML. Knowledge of ASP.Net and C# desired. Experience with agile development methodologies (RUP, etc.) and knowledge of relational databases and database programming preferred.
Education/Work Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 1-3 years of previous related experience required. Experience in healthcare or research desirable.
